Kid-Friendly Restaurant: ZaZaZa Pizza

Name: ZaZaZa Pizza

Address: 143 Putman Ave. (New Edinburgh)

Licensed: Yes

High chairs/booster seats: I’m not sure

Kids menu: No

Price: $15-20 per pizza, $5-8 for an appetizer or dessert

We finally checked out ZaZaZa Pizza, the much talked about pizza joint by Ion Aimers, the guy who started the very successful The Works.

It was good!

We love thin crust pizza and this place does it well.

Like The Works, ZaZaZa has some crazy and interesting toppings. It was really really hard to pick as everything on the menu sounded good. We ended up ordering the Scary Roommate (tomato sauce, Kraft Dinner, hot dogs, mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan) and the French Kiss (pesto oil, mozzarella, caramelized onions, tomato, artichokes, asparagus, brie and fresh tarragon).

Both were delicious and I’m surprised my two-year-old could stand after all she ate. Two pizzas fed me, my partner and our kid and left us each with a couple of slices for lunch the next day. But I think next time we’ll go with one and try a Crispy Punch dessert pizza…

In terms of kid-friendliness…The place is small, I didn’t notice any high chairs or booster seats (but I wasn’t looking) and there’s no kids menu…But the staff is great so all that doesn’t really matter. Our waitress had a good chat with our daughter and one of the first things she did, without us even asking, was bring over some paper and pens she scrounged up from behind the cash. My kid was also really pleased with the funky décor and upbeat music.

We will definitely be back…Plus, they do takeout!

FYI…If you’re not near Beechwood, there another location in the Glebe at 915 Bank Street. A Hintonburg location is set to open at 1079 Wellington Avenue West in June.
